The term ‘instagrammable’ has only started to take off in recent years due to the popularity of social media. As we travel to different countries, we also aim to find the most instagrammable spots to share on social media for our friends, family, and followers to see. If you’re heading to Singapore, you’re in for a treat as it’s known to be the 10th most instagrammable country in the world, with the recent release of the movie ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ and its scenic spots, it’s no wonder that Singapore has made it onto the instagrammable list.

Here, we've curated a few spots that you can head to during your time in Singapore. From street art to lush backgrounds and amazing architecture, you'll have plenty to fill your Instagram feed with as you marvel in the beauty of Singapore.

Get the perfect backdrop at Marina Barrage

There’s nothing quite like the backdrop of Marina Barrage, as you’ll be able to get a breathtaking 360-degree view of the bay area, and plenty of opportunities for a stunning image. Your backdrop not only has the picturesque river, but you’ll also get the incredible architecture of Gardens by the Bay, Singapore Flyer, and the Central Business District.

The Marina Barrage is also great to head to for a run during the day or night to be captivated by the picturesque view of Singapore. At night, be prepared to whip out your camera and take a perfect landscape shot of Singapore as you stand awed by the magnificent view in front of you.

One of the most instagrammable spots in Singapore is none other than Haji Lane. You’ll fall in love with the impressive wall art that adds a pop of colour to your photos. This street that’s located near Bugis and in Kampong Glam, is lined with hipster cafes and boutiques which makes it a haven for gorgeous backgrounds. There are multiple wall murals located along Haji Street, so take your pick and decide on the perfect backdrop for your shot.
After getting the perfect shot, head down Haji Lane to take a look at the shops that line the street. You’ll find artsy gifts, creative knick-knacks, and perhaps even a little something to add to your wardrobe. If you need a little pick-me-up, there are plenty of cafes to quench your thirst and satisfy your hunger. There’s even a café called Selfie Coffee where you can get a coffee with your very own selfie on top.

Get a historical angle at the National Museum

The national museum of Singapore dates back to 1849 and is one of the oldest museums in Singapore. As you marvel at the colonial architecture and take a few pictures to add onto Instagram, don’t forget to also head into the National Museum to enrich your history knowledge, and appreciate the tastefully decorated interior.

The exhibits within the museum primarily focus on the history of Singapore and is one of the four national museums in the country. There’s a ramp spiral within the museum that leads down to an exhibition space holding some of the nation’s most treasured items such as the Singapore stone and 14th-century gold ornaments that were unearthed at Fort Canning Hill. In the basement, there’s even a column-free gallery for temporary exhibits that have insulated walls without windows and is climatically controlled to protect exhibits from light, heat, or humidity changes.

Strike a pose on the Sentosa Beach Rope Bridge

While most tourists flock to Sentosa while visiting Singapore, very few know of the Sentosa Beach Rope Bridge. Most individuals are familiar with attractions that reside in Sentosa such as Universal Studios, the Merlion, and Palawan Beach. Did you know, however, that Palawan Beach is the centre of the southern coast of Sentosa? Hence, this suspension bridge actually leads to another small isle that’s said to be the southernmost point of continental Asia (or rather, the closest point in Asia to the equator).

With the beach and the southernmost point of Asia as your backdrop, this is definitely an instagrammable spot you wouldn’t want to miss. After you’re done, pop by one of the several bars along the beach down to cool down from the sweltering heat.

Get an artsy shot at the National Gallery Singapore

There’s something about the interior design of the National Gallery that’s sure to take your breath away. It strikes a perfect balance between both heritage as well as modern architecture, as there’s nothing like a backdrop that encapsulates both Singapore’s past and present with the City Hall and Supreme Court buildings forming the National Gallery.

Either than the intricately designed bridge that links you to the former Supreme Court Building and City Hall at the rooftop level, there’s also an Instagram perfect extended staircase that links the basement to the upper levels with solar panels for electricity. Don’t forget to also take a look at the visual art collections on display.

It’s all about angles at the Art Science Museum

There’s nothing quite like the architecture of the ArtScience Museum, and this building that’s anchored by a round base in the middle, with extensions referred to as ‘fingers’, is an Instagrammable spot that’s not to be missed. Rainwater is even harvested and channelled down the centre of the building and is recycled and use for the building’s restrooms.

After appreciating the exterior, you’ll have to head inside and enjoy the art and science digital exhibits and unique showcases that blend both the artistic and scientific communities. With 21 gallery spaces that span a total area of 50,000 sq ft, you’ll have plenty to explore.

Be dazzled by the lights at Ion Orchard

Orchard Road itself is known for having some of the most dazzling lights and picturesque backdrops, especially during the festive season and Chinese New Year. Out of all the buildings however, Ion Orchard has a multi-sensory canvas media wall that lights up like no other. You’ll be sure to capture the perfect shot in the evening with its diverse array of lights.

Within the building, there’s also an art and exhibition gallery, a plethora of shops to keep you busy, and Ion Sky – an observation deck that’s located on the 55th and 56th floor of the building. Head upstairs, and you’ll be able to get a breathtaking panoramic view of the city, and more shots you can add to your Instagram collection.

An endless Instagram playground at Changi Airport

While most airports only facilitate arrivals and departures, you’ll be surprised to know that Changi Airport has some of the most Instagrammable spots in Singapore. Start off at Terminal 1, and be mesmerised by kinetic rain – the 1,216 copper raindrops that represent the joy of travelling. If you fancy a bit of nature in your shot, you can head to the water lily garden, orchid garden, or even the cactus garden, and sunflower garden that are located on the rooftops of the airport. Don’t forget to also visit the butterfly garden that’s home to over 1,000 butterflies for a unique shot.

If you’re a thrill junkie, you can also take the slide at terminal three – one of the world’s tallest slide in an airport. You’ll shriek your way down while reaching high speeds. Finally, head over to Steel in Bloom to take some shots with a 6 metre magnificently structured centre piece.

The above are some of the more unique instagrammable spots in Singapore, however, there are plenty of other spots all around Singapore, so be sure to explore other parts of this sunny island-state.
