4 Tips on how to spend your Honeymoon in Ubud
If you want to spend your honeymoon in a place that offers both luxurious romance and exotic adventure, look no further than Ubud. This tropical lovers’ retreat is nestled in the foothills of central Bali and boasts an array of experiences for honeymooners. From relaxing spa treatments to outdoor exploration, there is something for every couple in this luscious paradise. Your honeymoon in Ubud will transport you to a new world and check off some bucket list dreams along the way.
For Cultured Couples
Everywhere you turn, you’ll be immersed in Balinese culture. From visiting temples to wandering through local markets, there are endless ways to share an authentic cultural experience in this exotic locale.
Ubud Art Market

Local art markets are a cornerstone of Balinese culture, so if you and your love enjoy shopping and art, this is the ideal place to treat yourself with something new. Wander hand-in-hand amidst aisles of brightly colored goods at a lively shopping market – it’s a vibrant feast of colors and sounds!
You’ll find plenty of souvenirs and trinkets to take home as a reminder of your amazing honeymoon experience. On my honeymoon in Ubud, I chose hand-crafted silver jewelry as the perfect romantic memento.

Batik Class

If browsing the art market gets your creative juices flowing, sign up for a batik class to create your own masterpiece. Batik is an ancient method of color dying fabrics by using a soft wax to create patterns. It’s a fun, unique way to get a hands-on taste of the Balinese culture while learning something new.
And there is another art form that is extremely popular in Bali – a Balinese dance. There is no other experience quite like it! The Balinese dance is an incredible spectacle of costumes, dancing, storytelling, and even fire. And as a bonus, many of the stories center around love.
These amazing cultural masterpieces are performed at different locations in Ubud throughout the week.

For Adventurous Couples
Nature is a powerful aphrodisiac, so get out in the Bali sun and explore nature together. The island offers up some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world, and Ubud is no exception. From rice terraces to waterfalls to jungles, there are adventures to be found at every turn.
Tegallalang Rice Terrace

If you do nothing else while in Ubud, you must visit a rice terrace – they’re just as remarkable as they look on Instagram! The Tegallalang rice terraces are the most picturesque, but because of that, they’re often overrun with tourists. So start early! You’ll beat the tourists and the sticky Bali heat. Trust me, it’s worth it – these awe-inspiring terraces create the perfect backdrop for your tropical honeymoon getaway.

Tegenungan Waterfall

While you’re out and in the mood for adventure, check out the Tegenungan waterfall, just a 30-minute drive from Ubud. After a short hike through the jungle, you’ll arrive at a secluded waterfall with a shallow pool at the bottom, ideal for a dip on a hot day.
Turn up the romance and pack a picnic lunch for you and your honey to enjoy after your swim – just another perfect day in paradise.

Now that you’ve worked up an appetite, don’t forget about the ultimate aphrodisiac – food!
If you Google “romantic honeymoon restaurant in Ubud”, you’ll be hit with a long list of candle-lit dinners with sweeping views from a balcony high above the jungle. But Locavore, my favorite restaurant in all of Ubud (and maybe the world), offers so much more than just candles and romance – it is a true foodie couple’s dream.
Have you ever eaten a deep-fried leaf? What about squid confit? Prepare yourself for a mouth-watering culinary adventure at Locavore, one of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants for three years in a row. All the food is prepared from locally-sourced ingredients, and the tasting menu features unique, mind-blowing bites.
And don’t worry, this restaurant also sets the mood for love. The lights are kept low, so cozy up to your partner and let your taste buds tingle with delight.
