Great Romantic Spots in Taipei
Great Romantic Spots in Taipei
Taipei is a perfect place for a romantic getaway. Whether for a weekend, just one night, or a week, there is a lot to see and do in the city which will let you have a lovely time as a couple.
Hot Springs
One of Taipei’s secrets for many visitors is its lovely Japanese style hot springs at a fraction of the Japanese price.
Nestled in the charming leafy suburb of Beitou, the experience starts even on the dedicated MRT train, depicting the hot springs resorts over the years.
The centrepiece of the area is a variety of hot springs resorts. Unlike in some other places, the public hot springs are not segregated by gender, so you can enjoy relaxing time with your sweetheart. Lying back in the waters of different heats, their mineral effects can help both your bodies, while the open sky and birdsong relax you.
If you want a less public experience, it is also possible to hire a private room at one of the many commercial hot springs in the area. Beitou has some simple local restaurants and a beautiful modern library building, so you’ll enjoy wandering back down to your transport to take your relaxed bodies back to the city centre.
Shipai also has some hot springs if you want a quieter alternative to Beitou.

Parks
The image of two lovers ambling slowly through a beautiful park is universal. Fortunately, Taipei’s abundant green spaces and well-designed public parks make this dream easy to realise.
Parks are some of the most romantic places to go in Taipei. They have the perfect combination of nature and convenience. Bring your own food and drinks from one of the ever-present convenience stores and it is easy to make a picnic, or you can shop for specialty Taiwanese snacks and enjoy the specialness of the moment even more.
There is a wide range of parks. Da’an Forest Park is pretty and has the fresh touch of nature. Rainbow Riverside Park is always romantic, and gets more so as the sun goes down. It even has an iconic “LOVE” statue.

Lovers’ Bridge
Lovers’ Bridge was started on 14 February, which is where it gets its name. Unfortunately the only really romantic thing about the bridge is its name.
However, it’s a pleasant walk and right by the old street in Tamsui. That has good food and an endearing heritage atmosphere most visitors would enjoy.
Taipei 101
Taiwan’s highest building towers over the whole city. The area is a tourist and entertainment hotspot and there is no shortage of things to do there. You can stop for selfies at the famous “Love” sculpture just outside, on the ground floor.
One of the unique couple’s things to do in Taipei is to go to the observation deck near the top of 101. Inside is an enormous dampener which helps keep the building upright. Outside you have fantastic views in all directions. Try to go up late in the day, and watch the sun set slowly over the city, with the beautiful changing colours dappling the landscape all around.

Coffee Shops
Taiwan is famous for its cute, beautiful coffee shops. The nation’s capital Taipei has more of these than anywhere else.
A coffee shop is a perfect place for a romantic hour. You can sit together, or opposite one another, sharing coffee and cake in a relaxed environment while music tinkles away in the background
The coffee shop scene in Taipei is always welcoming new arrivals. But some of our favourites include alpaca café Oia, Alice in Wonderland-themed Alice is Coming and trendy Costumice. There are pockets of cafes all across the city, from Da’an to Shida and Songshan to Cat cafes like All About Animals are a hit with many couples.

Huashan 1914 Creative Park
This brick-built complex started life as a wine factory. Today it has been converted into a vibrant arts space. Combining coffee shops, boutique shops, artisanal producers and more, there is always a lot to see. Simply wandering around the different buildings and stopping in the shops is a perfect way to spend a relaxing afternoon in a slow-paced mood.
Bookshops
Bookshops aren’t always seen as romantic places. But in Taipei, that is exactly what they are.
Many Taiwanese feel proud of their famous bookstore chain Eslite and if you spend time in its multistory flagship branch, it is easy to see why. Couples and friends will sit next to each other, even on the floor, reading books and magazines for hours on end, sometimes stopping to share an interesting phrase or thought with each other, or discuss what is on their mind.
Eslite no longer just talks about itself as a bookshop – it is a lifestyle destination, where franchise stalls sell handicrafts, foods, homewares and all sorts of cute and unusual knick knacks. There is something for everyone, and that is why locals treat it as one of the romantic places to go in Taipei.

Romantic Meals
A romantic meal is one of the ultimate couple things in Taipei. Share a meal from one bowl together at one of the city’s many excellent hotpot restaurants. Or, you can sit side by side and experience a teppanyaki chef prepare your meal in front of your eyes at one of the city’s Japanese restaurants. For a more traditional romantic meal, try one of Taipei’s romantic French eateries like the C’Est la Vie Bistro, the upmarket Bistro Le Jardin or the luxurious L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon.
You can top the meal off at a popular dessert shop like Dazzling Café, French-Japanese choice 8% ice, or a romantic late night cocktail spot like Beau or vintage Taiwanese themed favourite Hanko 60.
Night Markets
Taipei’s famous night markets are also amongst the leading romantic places to go in Taipei. With a wide range of delicious food and snacks, they offer fun and entertainment for hours. You can read all about the different night markets here [link to night market article on your website].
