Corporate Social Responsibility
Singapore, 29 October 2014 – On 1 November, Furama City Centre, will show its support for raising awareness of prostate and testicular cancer through Movember’s first moustache competition in The Local People x Movember Night Market, taking place at People’s Park Complex Rooftop Carpark (Level 5 & 6). Furama City Centre will be giving away the top prize of a complimentary night’s stay in the Executive Club Room, in recognition of the participants’ efforts for the Best Moustache and Best Groomer contests. These two contests allows participants, aptly named Mo Bros, an opportunity for them to show their support in raising awareness of prostate and testicular cancer through a fun and enjoyable manner.
When it comes to being socially responsible to the community and environment, Furama City Centre recognises the importance of people as a key asset in philanthropy work within the local community. Amongst other corporate social responsibility efforts extended to schools and the less fortunate, the Hotel’s management, staff and their families came together to spread some heart-warming spirit during the Lunar New Year and Ramadan period earlier this year.
On 8 February 2014, Furama City Centre partnered with Kreta Ayer Community Centre to provide relief and Lunar New Year festivities to over 140 needy families in the form of food rations and daily necessities. This charity drive saw the engagement of the Hotel’s management and staff, working hand-in-hand with the focus of helping the local community through donation-in-kind and volunteerism.
During Ramadan, Furama City Centre partnered with Yayasan Mendaki to give back to the Malay community, by donating $1 to the organisation for every person that dined in at the Hotel’s Tiffany Café & Restaurant between 29 June and 28 July 2014. In addition, the Hotel sponsored and participated in Project Joy, organised by Yayasan Mendaki to spread the festive cheer during the fasting month. On 12 July 2014, the management and staff of Furama City Centre, joined volunteers in giving out Ramadan Packages comprising food rations and necessities to their beneficiaries island-wide.
