Singapore, 8 September 2015 – Furama City Centre has been awarded the Singapore Green Hotel Award 2015 by Singapore Hotel Association in recognition of its commitment to the environment through their green efforts. Supported by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA), National Environmental Agency (NEA), PUB, the National Water Agency and the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), the award ceremony was graced by Miss Grace Fu, Minister, Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for the Environment and Water Resources and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs on 27 August 2015.

Furama City Centre’s green efforts include going paperless with an ipad provided for hotel guests’ convenience during check-in. Recyclables and trash at hotel outlets and housekeeping department are segregated as well for recycling. To conserve energy, Furama City Centre embraces the use of motion sensor-activated lightings and motion sensors at staircases and elevators. Moreover, wash basins, shower mixers and toilets are equipped with water-saving regulators.

Since 2008, Furama City Centre has earned several accolades ranging from the BCA Green Mark Platinum Award to the ASEAN Green Hotel Award by ASEAN Tourism Standard, applauding the outstanding and continuous trail-blazing environmental efforts by the hotel. Going forward, Furama City Centre plans to further incorporate sustainability to meet and excel environmental goals to promote a healthy environment for guests and hotel staff.
