One great thing about traveling to Thailand is the amazingly diverse party scene in the country, from Bangkok to the beaches of Ko Samui to the busy streets of Chiang Mai. Even if you’re not a big party person (and I get you, I am the same), you’d still want to enjoy a pint of beer or a glass of wine with your friends in a nice bar every once in a while.

It doesn’t take much to have an excellent night out, but one of the main things that can make or break a night is the venue. This is why I made this curated list of the 5 best spots for a fun night out in Chiang Mai. Having spent 3 months there, I had my fair share of party nights and ended up adopting a few bars and clubs as my go-to favorites.

So, without further ado, here is where you should go if you’re ever in Chiang Mai and itching for a night of drinking, dancing, and adventure!

The Good View Bar

The Good View Bar & Restaurant

Right next to Chiang Mai’s River Ping, The Good View Bar is one of the best places to chill in the outdoors when the weather permits it. With a live band performance every night, this bar is the perfect place to spend a cozy evening out with your friends sipping on good cocktails and eating some delicious Thai food. It’s also the right place if you’re planning a romantic night out and want to wow your date. All in all, if you’re looking for an extraordinary location with great food and amazingly colorful drinks, The Good View Bar is the right place for you!

Zoe In Yellow

Zoe In Yellow

Zoe In Yellow is what I like to call a backpacker’s heaven. If you’re traveling on your own (as I did) and want to meet up with fellow travelers, then head down there. Conveniently located near Tha Pae Gate, Zoe In Yellow sits next to a dozen other bars and venues. If you’re looking for a great night out and cheap drinks, then this is definitely the right place for you. With a young western crowd, hip music, and strong whiskey buckets, Zoe In Yellow is perfect for the lonely 20-something traveler who wants to dance the night away, meet people from the four corners of the world, and get drunk on life!

Spicy

Spicy

Famous for being the last place to close in Chiang Mai, Spicy Nightclub is for all of you party lovers who like to go at it all night long. Famous among expats and backpackers alike, this nightclub pumps out dance and trance music until the early hours of the morning. The best time to go there would be after midnight since the after-party crowd only moves to Spicy after all the other clubs around have closed.

Spicy Nightclub is not the most sophisticated place around, but it also doesn’t take itself too seriously, so it’s perfect for budget travelers who want to dance the night away and meet up with like-minded people. With no cover charge and cheap drinks, it’s definitely the right place to go when you’re trying not to burn a hole through your pockets. And you know what’s even better? The club has no dress code either, which means you get to party in flip flops if you want!

The Beer Republic

The Beer Republic

If you’re a fan of international beer, especially German ones, then The Beer Republic is the right place for you. This unpretentious bar is cozy and chill, which makes it the perfect hangout for beer lovers all around Chiang Mai. From lagers to stouts to ciders on tap, this Nimmanahaemin bar offers a colorful beer menu. So, what are you waiting for? Head to The Beer Republic and travel all around the world by trying their international beers!

Warm Up Cafe

Warm Up Cafe

Another Nimmanhaemin Road bar, Warm Up Cafe is one of Chiang Mai’s most famous night spots. It’s famous as being the city biggest bar, and it definitely lives up to its reputation. The club/bar in itself is split into different sections, from the large room at the back where most of the action happens to the more chill and relaxed outside terrace where you can take some air when the music and the dancing become a bit too much for you to handle. And, bonus point: Warm Up Cafe is the perfect place to get to see some local bands live. So, if you want to get a taste of Thai pop, this is the right spot!
