One of the best things about Chiang Mai is its huge amount of coffeeshops. From eateries in the heart of the city to cute cafés inside the jungle, Chiang Mai boasts a significant number of eclectic places where you can sit down and enjoy a good book while sipping on an organic smoothie or a cup of iced Thai coffee. The northern capital of Thailand is a haven for anyone who’s into insta-worthy interiors (and exteriors, let’s not forget those), good coffee, and chill settings.

So, without further ado, here is the list of the 5 most peculiar (in a good way though) cafés and eateries in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Ironwood

If you’re out exploring Mae Rim on a scooter, then you might stumble into this little side of heaven on earth. Ironwood café sits amid a rich, lush landscape in the heart of a green forest. Not unlike something straight out of a fairytale, this eatery has a gorgeous setting and a relaxing atmosphere that will make you forget you’re in busy Chiang Mai.

Ironwood also boasts many organic dishes on its menu, from the hearty Lamb Shank Massaman Curry to the sweet and savory Khao Khlook Gapi. The eatery also has a drink menu that’s set to rival anything you could find in Chiang Mai’s old town.

Address: 592/1 Mae Rim-Samoeng Rd., Chaing Mai, 081-858-3555

Opening hours: Open daily from 10am to 7pm

No.39

Source

Looking for a peaceful café to enjoy a good cup of café surrounded by nature? Look no more, No.39 is here to save the day. This charming coffeehouse is nestled in a jungle of trees, right next to a natural pond. With its cozy and relaxed atmosphere, No.39 was one of my favorite places to go to when I needed to write or read a book during my months living in Chiang Mai.

It doesn’t hurt either that the café’s menu is full of mouthwatering desserts and delicious drinks. Spacious, and with a beautiful outdoor area, No.39 is a must see during your stay in the northern capital of Thailand.

Address: 39/2 Moo10, Suthep, Muang, Chiang Mai

Opening hours: Open daily from 9:30am to 7pm

Payaka Cake House

Source

Payaka Cake House is a wooden coffeeshop nestled deep down a small street in Raj Chiang Saen Road. For fans of live music, healthy living, and good coffee, this is the perfect spot. Believe me, I’ve spent evenings on end there listening to music and chatting with people from all around the world, and I’m still not tired of it. Payaka Cake House is, without a doubt, a must see, and one of the reasons I’m going back to Chiang Mai in the next year (as you can see, coffeeshops are a bit of a passion of mine). It doesn’t hurt either that Payaka’s menu is great and easy on the pocket. The drinks and desserts (your girl here is a fan of good cakes) are extremely tasty and very affordable.

So, if you’re ever in Chiang Mai, don’t hesitate to check out Payaka Cake House. Trust me, you won’t regret it!

Address: 98 Raj Chiang Saen Rd., Tumbon Haiya, Chiang Mai

Opening hours: Open Wed-Sun from 10am to 7pm

Jungle De Café

Insta-famous and not for naught, Jungle De Café is a coffeeshop found in the heart of the jungle, right above a giant cascading waterfall. Yes, you’ve read it right, a waterfall!

If you want to get some sun, enjoy the breeze, and read a book in a peaceful atmosphere, then all you have to do is head out to Jungle De Café and chill on a net hammock there.

Found in Mae Rim forest, Jungle De Café offers great Thai coffee for not much, which means it’s the perfect cheap touristic spot. It doesn’t matter if you’re flying first class or if you’re a backpacker on a budget, Jungle De Café will offer you the experience of a lifetime.

So, go there and enjoy a Chocolate Latte while chatting with some friends. After all, there’s no better way of doing this than being above a giant waterfall!

Address: Pongyang Jungle Coaster Zipline Camp & Resort. Mae Rim, Chiang Mai

Opening hours: Open daily from 9am to 7pm

Phufinn Terrace

Source

The final spot on our list in the incredible Phufinn Terrace, a place that boasts some of the best views you’ll ever see (for real). If you’re looking for a coffeeshop with a gorgeous view and good coffee, then you’ve found your Holy Grail.

Phufinn Terrace is located up in the mountains around Chiang Mai, and the atmosphere is truly breathtaking. The menu isn’t bad either, with their selection of great desserts (rainbow cake, anyone?) and delicious drinks.

Address: Nam Phrae, Hang Dong District, Chiang Mai

Opening hours: Open daily from 11am to 9pm

Check out Phufinn Terrace’s Facebook page here.
