6 Beautiful Waterfalls In Bali
For more than a decade already, Bali has been a destination darling for those searching for a combination of hot weather, relaxation, and beautiful surroundings. But it was in the few recent years, following the influx of travel influencers on Instagram who all fell in love with Bali one after another, that the popularity of Bali absolutely skyrocketed. Now you can find it on almost anyone’s bucket list, and you may have even noticed some of your friends going back to Bali over and over again, and all this attention and love Bali has been receiving is most definitely the deserved kind.
You see, Bali’s landscape alone is absolutely stunning. Some could even use the word breathtaking to describe it, and they wouldn’t be wrong. For an island, Bali is surprisingly big, offering a variety of different sceneries for its visitors – and it holds within itself far too many activities for you to be able to explore everything in just one week.
Among the most spectacular parts to discover in Bali are definitely the waterfalls, of which there are many, sprinkled in different parts of the island for your viewing pleasure. I’m about to show you the best waterfalls in Bali, as per my own opinion, but do know this: there are way more waterfalls in Bali left to discover outside of these. But if you’re pressed for time, like most of us are, and have to pick and choose with what to see, then these are the best waterfalls in Bali, ones that you absolutely cannot miss out on!
Gitgit Waterfall

This waterfall is tucked away and hidden enough to make you doubt whether you’ve taken the right way there – luckily it’s almost impossible to make a wrong turn! While it is a crowd favorite, it is entirely possible to visit this waterfall without there being anyone else around, especially if you go early in the morning. You, unfortunately, cannot swim under this waterfall, but instead, it can offer you an amazing moment for breathing in some peace and calm.
Kroya Waterfall

Although the Kroya waterfall is tiny, it is far from boring. If you’re in for a round of adventure, it’ll surely give you a run for your money. With a tour package and a guide booked by the entrance, you get the chance to jump off a cliff right into the lagoon in front of the waterfall. And not only that, there is also the option of sliding down the actual waterfall! Your bum may not be your best friend after, but you will be incredibly happy with yourself for having done it.
Aling Aling Waterfall

Located right in the same neighborhood as Kroya, Aling Aling may be the less adrenaline rising one of the two. However, in terms of beauty, it is an absolute stunner. You can also expect it to be far quieter than many other waterfalls in Bali, which just makes your experience all the more breathtaking. It’s really the type of a waterfall where you’ll want to have a quiet moment with nature, just to take it all in – and can easily also do it with!
Sekumpul Waterfall

Another one in the Northern Bali region, ask around and this is the one most will tell you is their absolute favorite. And why wouldn’t they? You may have to walk down a couple of flights of steep stairs to get there, but if these waterfalls aren’t beautiful, then what is? You can already see and admire them from afar, long before you’ll have the chance to dip into the water right under the waterfalls. This one is the most likely to have massive crowds, unless you go very early in the morning, or possibly quite late in the afternoon. Nevertheless, you’ll enjoy your stay by the waterfall, and for those interested in travel photography, there are surprisingly many spots from where to take great pictures in, even when the area is crowded.
Tukad Cepung Waterfall

The best hidden waterfall in all of Bali, located inside a cave, Tukad Cepung is both peculiar and gorgeous. You’ll have to get a bit wet and messy to get there, even after all the stairs, but you will undoubtedly be rewarded for your efforts. It probably won’t surprise you that this waterfall is another one that draws in crowds, but if you arrive there at the right time, sometime between morning and noon, and see those utterly breathtaking rays of sunshine, you’ll completely forget about everyone else around you.
Tegenungan Waterfall
This is perhaps the most famous waterfall in the central Bali area. While most of the best waterfalls seem to be concentrated around the northern region, there are still a couple of waterfalls worth a visit when heading south from north, Tegenungan being among them. Surrounded by lush jungle, this small but thick waterfall will give you plenty of natural beauty to take a look at. Perhaps a great visit on your way in or out of Ubud?
As mentioned before, these are just some of the waterfalls located on the beautiful island of Bali. Perhaps you’ll have enough time in your itinerary to visit each and every single waterfall to make your very own comparisons for the best ones. But if you only have so much time, then you ought to concentrate your waterfall sightseeing efforts on these six stunning waterfalls!
