5 Places To Party All Night In Taipei

5placestopartyallnightintaipeiCover

Taipei has an active nightlife offering multiple entertainment possibilities across different districts to keep you busy past midnight. Apart from experiencing Taipei’s nights through night markets and karaoke lounges, the city also provides a few great places to enjoy live music and dance through the night.

If you are a foreigner in the city, it is worth knowing that young people in Taipei tend to pre-drink at home or at some cheaper place to save some bucks – and well, some time too by not having to queue up to buy a drink in a packed club – before they actually head out to party.  Another thing is that a lot of bars and clubs allow indoor smoking, so it’s a good idea to wear something that you wouldn’t mind contaminating with the smell of smoke.

Lastly, getting a taxi in Taipei is relatively cheap and safe, and they are also easy to find, so it can be the main mode of transportation when hopping around different bars and clubs.

Knowing that, here are a few suggestions of places to go for an epic night out:

Revolver

Source

Revolver is a lively bar where there always seem to be something happening. No matter what day of the week you stop by for a drink, it is rare to encounter the bar quiet.

Conveniently located nearby a metro station, Revolver itself is not a very big venue, but it somehow benefits from its smaller size - a lot of people end up gathering outside the bar, making it easier for strangers to start talking to each other. Drinks are relatively inexpensive and they have a good variety to choose from, including local draft beer.

The two levels above the entrance are dedicated to live music performances, usually from small local bands playing rock music. It’s definitely a great place to go to get a sense of the local music scene and to talk to the local artists.

Fridays and Saturdays (6:30 PM ~ 4:00 AM)

B1

B1 is a relatively new nightclub that caters to an underground crowd of techno and house music lovers. It’s the new must go place to dance to electronic music after the popular Korner nightclub closed down. You will find great international guest DJs there as well as some of the old residents that used to play at Korner. All that being decently priced, with the entrance fee covering a free drink. Located in a basement, the venue itself is very simple in decor, and its smoky interior with minimal lighting gets you in the mood to just enjoy the music and dance.

Address: No. 198, Section 3, Civic Blvd, Da’an District, Taipei City, Taiwan 106

Hours: Fridays and Saturdays (11:00 PM ~ 5:00 AM)

OMNI

Source

Located in the hip Zhongxiao East Road, where the popular LUXY club used to be, OMNI attracts people looking for fun and extravagance. After going through remodeling, the venue even won design awards for its lavish interior design. The new and impressive lighting design and the spacious dance floor add points to this club and makes it stand out as a top choice for clubbing in Taipei. You will find DJs there playing mostly EDM with a high quality sound system and attractive dancers to entertain and excite the crowd. The club is a bit on the pricier side, but on Wednesdays, it is Ladies’ night and they do offer free entrance to the ladies. As this venue tries to cater to a more sophisticated crowd, they can be picky sometimes with the dress code, but that also means you’ll probably encounter a lot of dressed up good-looking people to party with.

Address: 5F, No. 201, Sec. 4, Zhong Xiao East Road

Opening Hours: Wednesday, Friday, Saturday (10:30 PM - 4:30 AM)

Chess Taipei

This nightclub is one of the few places in Taipei where you can move your body to hot hip hop music among an energetic crowd, all while being in a stylish environment. Located in the upscale Xinyi District, the club aims to deliver a quality hip hop evening experience in a relaxed atmosphere. Unfortunately, as with many other entertainment spaces in Taipei, size is a problem, so the entry to Chess Taipei needs to be reserved in advance. The club also offers free entrance on Wednesdays for girls at Ladies’ Night.

Address: No. 88, Songren Road, B1, Xinyi District, Taipei City, 110

Opening Hours: Wednesdays ~ Saturdays  (10:30 PM - 4:30 AM)

Pipe Live Music

Source

Pipe is a simple and slightly isolated venue that accommodates all kinds of people and hosts a wide range of musical performances and events. Situated by a riverside in the Gongguan District, Pipe used to be a water-pumping station, and that is where its name comes from. The open area around it, which is a common outdoor space that Pipe shares with other bars and eateries next to it, makes the venue an interesting place for socializing in between music breaks. The interior of the live house is minimal and it has this industrial look for what it used to be, so the overall vibe there is quite casual and whoever decides to go there should not expect anything fancy. There are some bike rental spots nearby the live house so it is not uncommon to see people biking to get there.

Address: No. 1, Siyuan St, Zhongzheng District

Opening Hours: Fridays ~ Sundays (4:00 PM ~ 4:00 AM, depends on the event of the day)
