Don’t bother looking at the menu, just head straight to the food display and go for a traditional plate of ‘nasi campur’. Nasi campur translates to ‘mixed rice’ and what you’ll get is a plate of yellow, red or white rice with a little bit of everything on display. It’s very simple - you choose what you want to go with your rice by pointing at the dishes. There are lots of veggies to choose from, fried little snacks and also plenty of warm dishes such as rendang beef, chicken curry the Balinese way and tempeh/tofu curries. Don’t forget the sambal! This is another humble warung worth checking out. Warung Melati is hidden away in a little gang right on the corner where Legian ends and Seminyak begins. You will have to come down here for lunch for between 12 pm and 2 pm when everything is fresh and the options are plentiful. The food at Warung Melati at this time is the best in town and you can expect the place to be packed with locals, expats and tourists! Go for yellow rice and pick whatever you like to with it from the display. Not to worry - everything is delicious and the staff is very friendly. Oh, and on a side note, the juices are delicious, too!
