The Petronas Twin Towers is an iconic, most recognizable building in Kuala Lumpur, which attracts thousands of visitors daily. The mall beneath it - Suria KLCC mall is one of the busiest malls with over 300 stores and a few attractions around the area.

One of the main family attractions in Suria KLCC mall is the Petrosains Discovery Centre - which is en entertaining and fun educational science centre for kids and adults to learn by interacting with the various exhibits.

As soon you enter the discovery centre, you'll go on the Dark Ride, which sounds ominous and perhaps scary, but it really is a fun 5-minute ride that introduces visitors to the wonders of Malaysia. Your kids will have fun seeing the audiovisual presentation that teaches them about the rainforest and all the natural resources that the country has to offer.

After disembarking from the ride, the first section you'll see is the Space section - which is an amazing place to discover our solar system.

There's a section where you can see how astronauts survive in space, along with interactive gear where you can experience how an astronaut would sleep, view a documentary on surviving in zero-gravity and even step inside a booth where you can experience how a hurricane would feel like at Jupiter's Great Red Spot - your hair will be quite messy afterwards.

The fun doesn't stop there, as you explore the other parts of the discovery centre within, you'll be whisked back in time to when dinosaurs still roam the earth, learn about chemistry at Molecule Nanoworld, interact with a talking robot and even let your kids explore a replica of an actual oil platform!

Malls are not just a place for shopping nowadays. And it's no different for Berjaya Time Square's mall in Bukit Bintang.

Head on to the 5th or 7th floor of this huge shopping centre, and you'll be transported to a world of fun. The theme park is a great option for adults and kids - as it has both thrill rides and colourful fantasy-themed rides for younger kids.

Divided into two sections, Galaxy Station is for older kids and adults where they can enjoy the day experiencing high-tech virtual reality at it's best.

Fancy yourself a Jedi? Then have fun with your family slashing it out while listening to cool tunes. If you ever wanted to be a space pilot, try your hand at a simulated space dogfight and release the rebellion in you. Exploring the galaxy has never been so much fun for the whole family with so many space-themed attractions.

For younger children, step into a fantasy land of fun and amazement at Fantasy Garden. Your kids can show their inner creativity by drawing their own animal avatar, then make it come alive on a huge screen to interact with it. There's also Oops playhouse where your kids can get up and close with animated games using augmented reality - where fantasy realms turn into reality.

Almost everyone is familiar with the game Temple Run. In this real-life version - jump, run and duck as you race through the finishing line. It's fun comparing scores because life is one big competition after all.

When you're ready for a change of pace, take a leisurely ride on the fantasy trail with your kids and tour Fantasy Garden in a fun, colourful train.

Your kids can also enjoy other classic rides like the bumblebee ride - see the view of the theme park from various heights by riding a giant bumblebee, or go on a bumpy ride on the Honey Bump. There's never a dull moment here!

Another kid-friendly attraction in KLCC is Aquaria. This large 60,000 square feet attraction houses over 5000 aquatic and other land-bound animals to impress your kids.

It's located below the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre - right next to the food court.

When entering, there's a touch pool where you and your kids can dip your hands in the water and play with the starfishes, sea cucumbers, and horseshoe crabs. You can even see bamboo sharks up close in these shallow pools.

There's also a tank full of piranhas right by the entrance. On some days, there are feeding sessions, so if your kids would like to see that, be sure to be there at the appropriate times.

Other animals that you can see are various amphibians like frogs and toads, tortoises, arapaimas, Asian otters, and over 150 different types of marine life. The best part is the travelator, where you can see up close sharks and stingrays swimming in the background.

Spending the day here would definitely make your kids appreciate our ocean and the animals living in it.

School of Hard Knocks at Royal Selangor Visitor's Centre

Sometimes, family activity needs a 'hands-on' approach to be different. In the case of the School Of Hard Knocks at Royal Selangor Visitor's Centre, you and your kids get to use your hands to craft pewter-ware that you would be proud of.

Of course, real pewter smithing is an art that takes years of practice. Visitors to The School won't do anything too demanding. Instead, they will give you a mallet, and a round pewter dish which you would hammer away on a wooden mould to engrave your initials. You'll even get to bring your work home and get a certificate once you're done!

There's also The Foundry, where you can create your own pewter designs from scratch using available moulds or just a freestyle design of your choice. This is meant for older kids as participants will be handling hot melted pewter to make the designs.

Visitors to the centre also get to learn about the history of pewter and how wares are made and sold worldwide. And if you're keen, buy a few as souvenirs for you or your family.

You're in the year 2066 - part of the last group of human beings trying to survive in a hostile and toxic world. If that all sounds dystopian, that's because the adventure park at District 21 is made to look just like you've stepped into a wasteland after a nuclear fallout.

Rusted metal bars, a decontamination centre ( where you'll be given a safety briefing), and backdrop that resembles abandoned buildings make up the decor of this vast 70,000 sq.ft indoor complex.

If you and your family want a more thrilling outing, where you'll be required to jump, scale, climb, slide or fly and brave challenging obstacles, then going to District 21 in Putrajaya would make your day.

There are 11 attractions for visitors in total. For a one-of-a-kind experience, there's the thrill of The Roller Glider - imagine feeling the G-Force of a roller coaster with the speed of a zip line - it's definitely fun for adrenaline junkies.

A few other attractions that are worth mentioning are the Power Station, the LaunchPad, which is a large trampoline area, Floating Maze, Pump Track, Go Pedal, and Low Ropes. Kids of all ages can enjoy the park, but some obstacles or rides are meant for older kids, so do take note.
