Bangkok is one of the most vibrant cities of the world. This 8 million city is so rich with tastes, smells, experiences, ways of life and cultures. It’s also one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, offering everyone to have the time of their lives. The only problem is to choose what to see and what to skip. Apart from the world famous tourist attractions, this city has many sides that are well worth experiencing.

The Little Venice

Being in Bangkok quite often feels just like being in Venice, except that it radiates undeniable and exciting Asian vibes. As it is in Italian city, also in Thai capital many streets are actually made of water. Locals are spending their lives living in houses build on the sides of canals. Instead of cars or motorbikes, they use boats to get around the area.

There are several ways how to have a glimpse of the life inside the huge network of canals. The area of canals, located so near the financial district and skyscrapers, seems like a totally different world.

There are longboats used as public transport, taking people from their homes to other parts of Bangkok. This is also a unique experience for visitors to get around the city, while admiring the brave ticket officers jumping from one side of the moving boat to another to collect the money and hand out tickets.

There are also private long tail boats. They take tourists around the canal network as well, allowing them to see the unique undeveloped side of Bangkok and the different lifestyle of living over there. Quite often sides of these water streets are covered with palm trees and other kinds of beautiful greens, making the view well worth seeing.

Feeling of a real rush

Bangkok is a true representation of the rush hour. It’s always buzzing with people and traffic, keeping the lifestyle fast and energy levels high. The heavy traffic problem often makes it complicated to move around the city and might even scare visitors that are not used to what feels like millions of vehicles on the road at once.

Therefore an exciting way how to feel the real rush in Bangkok is to experience the traffic in a tuk-tuk or on a motorbike. Not only is it a chance to feel like a local and see some of the most exciting parts of the city, but also feel the fun of manoeuvring countless obstacles just like in a video game.

Rich and exotic natural tastes

Another fundamental side of Bangkok is the fresh and mouth-watering tastes of fruits and vegetables. It’s a whole new experience when buying possibly the best mangoes, dragon fruits, papayas, mangosteen or rambutans in the Bangkok markets. Not to mention the incredible dose of vitamins from these super fruits.

Places like Klongsan Plaza Market is perfect for buying the freshest and most delicious fruits and vegetables, as this is a place where the locals go to shop. There will be no souvenirs and other typical tourist things, just a real and authentic Thai experience.

Up and coming coffee scene

Bangkok is becoming trendier and more hip every day. Therefore, it makes sense that some worldwide joys are becoming more popular and accessible here. While Bangkok might not seem like a perfect place for true coffee lovers like Italy or Greece, it’s becoming a real hotspot for great coffee from around the world. Influenced by local artists, designers, digital nomads and coffee lovers, new and cosy coffee shops and restaurants are opening regularly, providing Bangkok locals and visitors with great coffee experiences.

There are two ways to find great coffee experiences. Bangkok is perfect for just getting lost in the streets and wandering around. This is a wonderful way how to hunt for nice coffee shops and cafes, while seeing the areas of Bangkok that you would have never found or read about otherwise.

Another option is to find a local who will show you around the new and trendy coffee shops. Locals are starting to offer Coffee tours, as it’s a different and unique way how to experience Bangkok.

Mix of cultures

Being one of the biggest cities in Asia, Bangkok is the home of many different cultures and influences. The most notable of all might be the Chinese culture. A very fascinating area of Bangkok is Chinatown, which offers a glimpse into a totally different world right in the middle of the Thai capital.

Chinatown never sleeps, surprising its visitors with something different around every corner. It’s buzzing with hectic markets, centuries old temples, street food stalls and stands that sell fruits, vegetables and other things that you might not have seen before in your life.

Chinatown wonderfully compliments Bangkok with a great choice of delicious food, variety of fruits and vegetables, cheap Chinese products of any sort, unique architecture and so much more.

Street food paradise

Many might say that the best side of Bangkok is its street food. Incredible variety from spicy to very light foods, exotic snacks to magnificent fresh fruit smoothies or mango sticky rice is something that should not be missed. Great street food for any taste can be found all over the city, when shopping in markets, exploring the different areas of Bangkok, including Chinatown.

A great place to try a huge variety of Pad Thai, Green Curry, Tom Yum Goong, Spring rolls as well as famous scorpion and grasshopper snacks is Khao San Road. It’s the touristy part of the town, but has everything that must be tried in Bangkok. It’s all located compactly together. Just make sure to ask how spicy the dish is, before you order it! Thai food tastes the best in combination with fresh fruit smoothies, which just might be the best in the world.

Bangkok allows its visitors to fulfil their wildest dreams, whether it’s trying different foods, experiencing one of the most intense traffics in the world, visiting beautiful Buddhist temples and so much more. It might really be one of those cities, which can offer something for every taste.
