Best spots to enjoy Nightlife in Bangkok
By day, Bangkok is spent exploring its beautiful temples and palaces with it’s golden spires, but by night is when a truly diverse and exciting experience starts. The best place to experience this is the ever famous Silom street which offers its visitors a range of different scenes.
While Silom is definitely tagged as a red-light district and there is a fair share of what I’ll call “interesting” bars and clubs, you can still enjoy the night-life in Silom without getting into those risky places depending on your preference.
There are entertaining karaoke bars, sports bars for the men, roof-top bars overlooking Bangkok, bars dedicated to the gay community, and so much more. It’s important to note that while Silom is a very safe area for tourists, always be careful when walking down any of those small side alleys – especially if you’re alone.

Best Nightclubs in Silom
Here’s my favorites that are must-see bars and clubs when you’re in Silom.
Patpong Road in Silom

Author's own image
If you’re looking for where the most action is in Silom, Patpong Road won’t let you down. This street is lined with different bars which usually have free entrance as long as you buy a drink. If you sit outside you’ll be barraged with different sounds as competing clubs pull for your attention.
There are many different options on Patpong road, so I’ll break them down for you:
- If you’re looking for a beer or two over a game of pool, the Red Parrot is a great choice.Pool Tables:
- Elvis Impersonators: For a nice Western experience, the Soi 1’s Radio City offers great live music and Elvis Impersonators.
- Dance Club: Twilight and Lucifer’s are two of the most famous places to hit up if you’re looking for LED lights and a jumping dance floor.
- Gogo Dance Clubs: Some of the most famous bars featuring gogo dancers include The High Bar, Safari, Silver Star, and Kings Castle. While inside the establishments it can often get a bit less classy than outside, each visitor can pick their preferred location.
While in the Patpong area of Silom, a must-see destination is the Patpong Night Market which has endless rows of street vendors selling their goods to tourists looking for a good deal. This area is perfect if you’re looking for souvenirs or clothing to take home with you. It’s also right next to many of the clubs which may end up luring you in for additional drinks though!
Maggie Choo's

If you’re looking for a designer bar that’s both stylish/sophisticated but still sassy then Maggie Choo’s is a great choice! This Chinese themed bar gives you that perfect mixture of entertainment and quiet relaxation all in one.
Every night there’s a different theme whether it’s for you to dress up or the dancers. Girls will take to the center of the room, or hang from the ceiling in this bar. The lights are dim, but the dancers are bright!
The design is interesting with leather covered gaudy chairs and couches and the walls are covered in over extravagant artwork and sculptures.
It’s best to go a little later around 8pm-12midnight, but they are also open for dinner.
Sky Bar

Located at the 63rd floor of the Lebua State Tower, this is one of the best places to come enjoy both dinner and drinks at while enjoying the beautiful Bangkok skyline. It’s also one of the most famous picture spots on the skyline with its well-known golden dome on top of the Lebua tower. Also made famous because of the very popular movie Hangover 2.
This isn’t what I would suggest as a party place, but more of a dressy sophisticated night out with your friends or partner for a romantic evening.
Best time to go is from 8pm-midnight but if you’re going on a weekend it tends to get a bit crowded so I suggest to head here on weekdays for the best experience.
DJ Station

One of the most famous club-scenes in Bangkok for dancing is without a doubt DJ Station. It’s considered the heart of the gay nightlife-community in Bangkok and draws in huge local and international crowds.
This venue has 3 levels with multiple bars on each floor each with its own theme and crowd. No matter who you are, there’s a bar theme dedicated to you! Every night there are multiple drag shows starting at midnight and a hot dance floor with an unlimited supply of LED laser lights.
Best time to go is between 10pm-2am and entrance includes 2 drinks. You can wander between all of the bars here without having to pay additional entrance – it’s all inclusive.
If you’re looking for another gay club within Silom, “G Bangkok” (formerly GOD Club) is also a great choice just nearby DJ Station.
Nightlife Areas in Bangkok
While Silom is definitely where the best action is, there are many other great night-life places to check out if you’re in Bangkok for a few nights. Here are my favorite two places that you should definitely add to your Bangkok night-life bucket list:
- This is a guaranteed party zone every night of the week and typically the clubs are fully packed no matter what night you go. Some of the most famous clubs here include Route 66, Onyx, and Live Hall.Royal City Avenue (RCA):Ztudio
- Khao San Road: The nigh-life on Khao San Road is definitely different than the other club scenes discussed above. Khao San doesn’t have any vehicles on the road and is lines with not only restaurants and establishments but in the middle of the road it’s also lined with an endless supply of street vendors and street performers as well.
