As one of Thailand’s most iconic holiday destinations, Hua Hin regularly welcomes visitors from around the world. This idyllic location is famous for its beaches, wineries and laid back vibe. A former fishing village hugging the shores of the Gulf of Thailand, Hua Hin is just a short two-hour drive south of the bustling metropolis of Bangkok. It’s the perfect place for a weekend getaway or extended beach holiday. Ideal for families, groups, romantic couples, nature lovers and solo travelers, it offers something that will appeal to most everyone.  Here are a few suggestions for what to do if you want to have an unforgettable time the next time you visit Hua Hin.

Go For The Green

Although Thailand might not be the first place you think of when it comes to world-class golf, the Banyan Golf Club in Hua Hin is an award-winning 18 hole golf course that is truly spectacular. Designed by Thailand’s leading golf course architect Pirapon Namatra, it offers golfers a picturesque but challenging course with both sea and mountain views. The contemporary Thai style clubhouse features luxurious changing rooms and access to Mulligan’s Pub for cocktails and beer “on the green”. The Terrace Restaurant serves tasty and authentic Thai cuisine as well as international dishes and they are famous for their breathtaking sunset views of the Burmese mountains. All 18 holes of the golf course can be seen from the restaurant and there is no better way to unwind after a full day of golf than with a bottle of Banyan’s signature red or white wine that was created especially for the resort by a winery.

Make Some Waves

Hua Hin is a popular beach destination coveted for its calm seas and nearly 30 kilometers of coastline. Most of the hotels offer seaside accommodations and it can be tempting to only visit the beach connected to your resort. However; if you’re feeling adventurous, you can discover some picture-perfect beaches that are characterized by their shallow waters and mild currents, which makes them some of the safest and most enjoyable options. One of the best beaches is Suan Son Pradiphat, a long, flat stretch of sand that slopes gently into the ocean and is surrounded by a small village. This tree-lined beach is located 9 kilometers outside the city center and is a hidden gem that will appeal to anyone who wants to escape the crowds. Another tip is to venture to Khao Tao Beach which is located in a small yet picturesque cove about 20 kilometers from Hua Hin, it’s a bit off the beaten track but worth the extra effort.

Wine Down At The Vineyard

Believe it or not, Thailand makes wine, and Hua Hin is home to one of the best wineries in the entire country. Monsoon Valley Vineyards; formally called Hua Hin Hills Winery, hosts a range of activities including mountain biking, elephant riding, daily vineyard tours by jeep, grape picking excursions and wine tastings. They produce some of Thailand’s most drinkable “New Latitude” wines such as their recently launched “Signature” red, white and sparkling wines. They also have several “Classic” wines, their “Premium” wines which include Colombard, Shiraz and Chenin varieties. Their “Flagship” range includes their Cuvee de Siam Blanc, Cuvee De Siam Rouge, and Sparkling Brut de Blanc. You can visit the gourmet restaurant in their elegant wooden Sala, which is one of the best spots to enjoy wine, music, cuisine, and views while watching the sunset on the terrace overlooking the vineyards.

Horsing Around

Horseback riding can be one of those things that is a bit intimidating if you unfamiliar with it, but the Hua Hin Horse Club is the perfect place to visit no matter what your experience is. They offer horseback riding lessons for people of all ages and abilities, as well as trail and beach rides for groups and individuals. They are super kid-friendly with riding stables in a natural environment and are home to a variety of other animals including buffalo, dogs, cats, goats, ducks, geese and chickens. You can interact with the animals and they offer “horse care” lessons where kids can learn to wash and feed them. Whether you spend a full day or just a few hours, it’s one of the most unforgettable activates in Hua Hin for animal lovers.

Arouse Your Senses

Few things are as rejuvenating and memorable as a “spa day” and the Six Senses Spa Hua Hin provides a peaceful sanctuary where you can pamper yourself and let all your stress slip away. Set in the heart of the resort, the spa is surrounded by beautiful lush gardens and a series of serene lotus ponds. They seamlessly merge traditional Thai elements with modern facilities while boasting a soothing white, turquoise blue and gold color scheme. You’ll discover a comprehensive menu of signature massages, facials and body treatments along with unique signature therapies and activities such as cleanses, detoxes, and holistic treatments for your body and mind. It’s the perfect setting to relax and unwind and “wile away” away the hours in sheer luxury.
