Lion Dance performance @ Furama
Welcome in the Lunar New Year with an auspicious Lion Dance Performance at Furama RiverFront, Singapore and Furama City Centre, Singapore.
During the Lunar New Year, lion dance troupes will visit the houses and shops of the Chinese community to perform the traditional custom of “cai qing” (採青), which literally means “plucking the greens”. It is a quest by the lion to pluck auspicious green vegetables [like lettuce, which in Chinese called 'cái'(菜) which sounds like 'cái'(财) (fortune)] and auspicious fruits [like oranges] tied to a red packet containing money which is either hung highly or placed on a table in front of the premises. The lion dance is believed to bring good luck and fortune to the business.
