Esplanade

The Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay is Singapore’s foremost performing arts complex.

Singaporeans nicknamed its twin domes “The Durians”, due to its resemblance to the spiked tropical fruit.

The Esplanade houses a 1,600 seat Concert Hall, a 2,000 seat theater, recital studio, theatre studio, drama centre and Singapore’s first performing arts library – a one-stop resource library for the performing arts, library@esplanade also offers information and services in the areas of music, dance, theatre and film.

The site is historically significant, since the 1800s the area has been synonymous with leisure and recreational activities.
