Visit the Big Buddha
Wat Phra Yai is the home of Koh Samui’s most famous landmark the Big Buddha. Most visitors come to marvel at the sheer size and beauty of this remarkable statue at some point during their holiday.
The 12-metre high golden statue sits at the top of a grand staircase, it is visible even from the air when arriving or departing the island.
The Big Buddha was built in 1972 and is part of the Phra Yai Temple in the northeast of the island.
There are several shops and restaurants cater to the needs of devotees and tourist at the base of the structure.
